Family Challenge Weekend

Our first Family Challenge Weekend sold out in just over a week and we’re excited to announce that more places are available on the walk. We have space for extra children to join us and expect these to sell out quickly – so register at the link below to secure your place. We have accommodation left at the campsite and there’s lots of hotels, cottages and campsites nearby.

Join us for our first Family Challenge Weekend on June 9th and 10th 2017.  We’re looking for children to climb Mount Snowdon with their families for OSCAR’s PBTC on Saturday June 10th.  The challenge is suitable for children aged between 5 and 18 and we will have support on the walk via Climb Snowdon, a professional mountain leadership company.

We have organised accommodation at Llanberis Youth Hostel (on a B&B basis) and also at the adjacent campsite.  Space at the hostel is limited and costs £32 per person per night (they charge the same price for adults and children).  The campsite pitches cost £30 per night and both the site and the hostel have a minimum two night stay. The YHA and the campsite are just a short walk to the start point.

Climb Snowdon will handle health and safety, disclaimers and briefings, as well as providing a detailed kit list, trip notes and discount codes for hire of any kit that participants may need.  We will take the Llanberis Path up the mountain, a 9 mile round trip and 4000 feet elevation. We plan to set off at 9.30am after a safety briefing, although the weather could dictate an earlier or later start.

Snowdon is the most family friendly of the UK Three Peaks.  There is a cafe with toilet facilities half way up the mountain and a licensed restaurant with toilets at the summit.  For families with very young children or elderly relatives there is a mountain railway from the start point in Llanberis all the way to the top.

All children who do the walk will be provided with a t-shirt to walk in and a medal and certificate on completion.  We ask that all children who join us try and raise a minimum of £50 in sponsorship money.

There’s a £5 deposit per family and then the cost for accommodation is due on May 1 2017.  The charity will cover all other costs.
